Starting VisibleResults Installation

You must have installed InterServer and have restarted your computer before starting this step.

Having installed TCP/IP, Interbase or Firebird Server and InterClient/InterServer, you are now ready to install VisibleResults - this is the easy one!

Downloading VisibleResults

If you have not received VisibleResults on CDROM you will need to download VisibleResults from the Internet.

To download you need to visit http://sourceforge.net/projects/visibleresults with your Web Browser.

On the Summary page for VisibleResults you will see a section titled "Latest File releases", within that you will see a line for "Vr-JavaApp-Win" Version "v1.8". Click the "Download" link at the right of this line. From the "Visibleresults - Files" page download VisibleResults by clicking "vr-app-1.8.zip". Save this to a temporary directory on your hard disk.

You then need to unzip this file into a temporary directory (usually right click the file in windows explorer to "unzip" or "extract" it). In the temporary directory there will now be a file called "setup.exe", run this by double clicking it.

VisibleResults on CDROM

If you have a VisibleResults CDROM you will find on it a VisibleResults directory containing the "setup.exe" program, run it.

Welcome and Directory Choice Screens

These two screens appear next.

  • This screen welcomes you to the setup program
  • It is important that you close all other programs before proceeding. If other programs are running then
    • Click cancel to exit
    • Close all programs
    • Restart the installation of VisibleResults
  • If there are no other programs running, click 'Next' to proceed

Software License Agreement

 Read and then click "Yes"

This screen defines where Visible Results will be installed. We suggest you accept the directory location suggested (c:\visibleresults).

  • Click 'Next' to proceed OR
  • Click 'Browse' to change directory
  • If you change the directory, write down the location you choose. Then after installation is complete you will need to edit the VisibleResultsParameters.properties file. Icons, Details and Installation

SetUp now asks you where you want the program icons installed. The default location should not be changed from vr.

Click 'Next' to accept and proceed.

The VisibleResults programs will be displayed under 'Start', 'Programs'.

  • The SetUp is about to start. Check the details
  • Click 'Next' to proceed

Installation is complete. Click 'Finish'

VisibleResults installation is now complete!

To run VisibleResults simply run VisibleResults from the 'Start', 'Programs', 'VisibleResults' menu item. This runs the single user version of VisibleResults with the integrated web and application servers. Use the initial username of "DAVID" with a password of "test".

The very first time VisibleResults may take a long time to appear. Do not worry, it has to do a lot of extra work the first time to prepare the database.
